    Instructional Programs

    Harbor City Elementary STEAM Academy offers rigorous, standards based instructional programs in a collaborative setting from pre-K to 5thgrade. Our award winning staff includes 28 fully credentialed teachers including 14 with Master’s  Degrees in Education, 14  bilingual in Spanish,  5 Nationally Board Certified, and 2 named LAUSD Teacher of the Year.

    Ms. ReemsHello, Mighty Dolphins of Harbor City Elementary School! Welcome to the 2019-20 school year.  I am so excited that you are part of our amazing learning community! Our skilled staff is already planning and preparing for you children. This year we will continue to provide a rigorous program so that all students learn and excel at Harbor City.

    Mission Statement

    The mission of Harbor City Elementary School is to create independent, responsible, lifelong learners. All stakeholders will work in partnership to implement an engaged learning environment allowing students to grow socially, emotionally and academically. Administrators, teachers, para-educators and staff will work collaboratively with parents and community to target student needs by providing a rigorous, standards based and differentiated instructional program.

    We know that preparing for the future means giving students a variety of learning experiences. In addition to music, chorus and art, our teachers offer a variety of activities such as dance and yoga!

    Harbor City Elementary STEAM Academy wants success for all learners. Our staff knows that in order for a student to learn, we must meet the child on his/her level. We use the data from assessments to drive our instruction and intervention to yield amazing results. By the end of the 2018-2019 school year: 

    • 82% of Kindergarten students were reading at or above benchmark 
    • 65% of 1stgrade students were at or above reading benchmark 
    • 80% of 2ndgrade students were reading at or above benchmark 
    • 24% of English Learners reclassified as Fluent English Proficient in K-5
