3rd Grade Welcome Letter

Welcome to the 3rd grade. This will be an exciting year as you watch your child transition from being a primary student to an upper grade student.

Your child will be challenged to meet demanding academic standards. One huge math goal in third grade is the mastering of multiplication facts from 1-10. In Language Arts, your child must read with comprehension, develop academic vocabulary and write with clarity and focus. In Social Studies, your child will study the history of the development of Los Angles and our community. In Science, you child will explore the wonders of Matter and Energy, the Sun, Moon and Stars, and Structures of Life.

In the classroom and on the yard, your child will be expected to be safe, responsible, and respectful. With your valued support, dedicated teachers and your child’s willingness to achieve, we can make third grade a successful school experience.

Homework Policy

  1. Sign the Agenda Planner each day.

  2. Review homework daily to make sure that it is neat and complete.

  3. Monitor long-term research projects. Late homework will not be accepted after the first reporting period.

  4. Provide a quiet area for your child to do their homework. You can help your child, but please make them do the work themselves.

  5. Make sure that your child gets a good nights rest and a healthy breakfast.

  6. Be sure that your child is at school every day and on time.

  7. It is important to read and practice multiplication facts nightly.
